Joel Scott

Joel Scott is a technology executive and entrepreneur with extensive experience building, scaling, and leading businesses ranging from venture-backed startups to large public technology companies.

Joel began his career as a lawyer at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher before moving into technology, where he held senior legal and operating roles at Autonomy, including General Counsel and COO for the Americas. Following Autonomy’s acquisition by Hewlett-Packard, he served as Vice President of Operations & Strategy and Chief of Staff within HP Software.

Joel later co-founded SV Academy, a venture-backed workforce development company focused on creating pathways into technology careers. As COO, he helped the company grow to more than 100 employees and over $10 million in annual revenue. His experience spans strategy, operations, go-to-market, people, legal and compliance, and organizational leadership across companies at very different stages of growth.

Today, Joel advises and coaches founders and senior executives. He holds a JD from Stanford Law School and a BA with First Class Joint Honours in English and Philosophy from McGill University. He is based in the San Francisco Bay Area.
